What the Gene Keys are
Richard Rudd, who trained in Human Design, developed a system of 64 keys, one for each I Ching hexagram. Each key describes a spectrum of consciousness on three levels: the shadow (the reactive pattern), the gift (the talent) and the siddhi (the highest expression).
How they differ from Human Design
- ✦Human Design: mechanical and practical (type, strategy, authority), oriented to decision-making.
- ✦Gene Keys: contemplative, oriented to observing and transforming inner patterns.
- ✦Human Design uses centers and channels; the Gene Keys work with sequences of keys (the Hologenetic Profile).
Which to start with
If you want concrete tools to make decisions and manage your energy, Human Design is more direct. If contemplation and shadow work call you, the Gene Keys can complement it. Many people use both.
