Strategy is the most practical instruction in Human Design: it tells you how to start things —jobs, relationships, projects— in a way that respects your energy. It isn't a moral rule or a productivity hack. It's an experiment: try it and observe whether life flows more easily.

Each type's strategy
- ✦Generator: wait to respond. Let life bring something to you and listen to your Sacral's response.
- ✦Manifesting Generator: wait to respond and, before moving, inform the people affected.
- ✦Projector: wait for the invitation in the big areas of life (work, love, moving) and in important relationships.
- ✦Manifestor: inform before acting. Not asking permission, but letting people know to reduce resistance.
- ✦Reflector: wait a lunar cycle (about 28 days) before major decisions.
Strategy and authority together
Strategy tells you how to enter a situation; authority tells you whether it's right for you. A Projector with emotional authority, for instance, waits for the invitation and then gives it time to see if it still feels right once the emotional wave settles.
How to experiment with your strategy
Pick one concrete area —for example, how you accept commitments— and apply your strategy for a few weeks. Write down what happens: how much energy you have left, how much resistance you meet, how you feel. Human Design asks you to test it in your body, not to believe it with your mind.
- ✦Generators: before saying yes, notice whether your body expands or contracts.
- ✦Projectors: notice where you are recognized without having to push.
- ✦Manifestors: try informing before a change and watch how people react.
- ✦Reflectors: write down how you see a decision on different days of the month.
Frequently asked questions
What is strategy in Human Design?+
The recommended way for each type to enter life's situations with less resistance: responding, waiting for the invitation, informing, or waiting a lunar cycle.
Does waiting to respond mean doing nothing?+
No. It means letting something outside activate your energy —a question, an offer, something you see— and responding from your body instead of initiating from your mind.
What happens if I don't follow my strategy?+
The not-self theme of your type tends to appear: frustration, bitterness, anger or disappointment. They are signals, not punishments.
